Textes et Paroles de Bears And Bricks

i was raised in a red brick house in a small town
when i was 12 i saw a bear get gunned down
by my uncle michael and his schreiner buddies with their shiny rifles
i was quite maligned by my kin at the time
when i was assigned in science class
to find a bone fragment buried in the nature nearby
i dug the bear up and bleached its' bones dry

cries of protest, flies upon the old flesh
i thought i would win first prize, no contest
but before i could claim my 'A' at school
i had the misfortune of sorting through garden tools
in the shed my grandfather built
with carpentry skills honed at the harvard carvers guild

hard labor i was forced to do
from the blue moonlight until the day became noon
i reburied the bear with hands and a shovel
then my old man arrived, removing me from trouble

traveling home i heard the story
of the secret seal solomon allegory
on an old cassette, from a man i met
at the age of 8, his face i couldn't forget
he was a member of the scroll and key
when he was old as me, they said he rolled the stolen holly tree
from the great city of cologne
to the papal throne at the vatican in rome
where a goblin sits
on his throbbing fist
full of gold that he stole from unconscious twits

(oooooh you were scramblin' plaps
you were jammin' on bears and bricks
how cool is that?
yeah, i really like to have fun)

brown bears and building bricks
both symbolically classically masculine solid shit
very earthy, a dangerous marriage
a brown bear that could throw bricks would scare kids
but conversely, a civilized bear
with some masonry skills wouldn't kill
(wouldn't care!)
about outside affairs that don't concern him
he'd be in his brick house - throwing, burning!
throwing secrets out for all to find
basically burning the eye of horus blind
viceroy and plaps rip the royal raps
it's chorus time, we're bringing purple back!

we get to keep our treats
free of fee, out of reach
sneaky thieves on creaky roofs
get broken ribs from mountain boots

we get to keep our treats
free of fee, out of reach
sneaky thieves on creaky roofs
get broken ribs from mountain boots

we get to keep our treats
free of fee, out of reach
(when they approach your door
tryin'a take your gold
rig it with dynamite, and it will all explode)

sneaky thieves on creaky roofs
get broken ribs from mountain boots

(when they approach your door
tryin'a take your gold
rig it with dynamite, and it will all explode)
